The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), the trade association representing the swimming pool, hot tub, and spa industry, is pleased to announce that Joseph Laurino, Ph.D., MBA, has been appointed to Chairman of the Board for 2024. Laurino is President and CEO of Periodic Products, Inc., a material science technology company based in Sarasota, FL.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), the trade association representing the swimming pool, hot tub, and spa industry, is issuing a call for participation on the Standards Consensus Committee (SCC), PHTA’s official consensus voting body. The SCC is responsible for reviewing and voting on all pool, spa, and hot tub standards to be approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The results came from PHTA’s new quarterly industry survey that captures the sentiment of pool and spa executives about their company’s performance compared to previous quarters, with a look ahead at how they think their company will perform in the future quarter. The report shows overall steady growth for the first half of 2023 and a promising outlook for the start of 2024.

Step Into Swim, a non-profit initiative of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) dedicated to creating more swimmers through safe swim education, today announced a strategic partnership with Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation. The Foundation committed $200,000 and received a direct match from the PHTA Board of Directors, which will help Step Into Swim gift grants to learn-to-swim providers across the Northeast and fund 40,000 swim lessons for thousands of children while driving down the drowning rate.

Each year, hundreds of entries are submitted by builders across the U.S. and the world.

The PHTA Scholarship Program was founded to honor public swimming pool or spa operators who have pursued further education to better protect public health.

Ten industry professionals earned the Executive Leader Certificate, and fourteen earned the Emerging Leader Certificate. 

Today, the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), the trade association representing the swimming pool, hot tub, and spa industry, launched the PHTA Registered Pool Installer Technician Apprenticeship Program, with support from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), to help build a more skilled and diverse workforce. This new apprenticeship program is part of a larger initiative to expand the skills and size of the pool builder workforce in the aquatics industry.
