The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance is inviting public review and comments on revisions to the new PHTA/ICC-2 Standard for Public Pool and Spa Operations and Maintenance. Public review is an important part of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards consensus development process.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) is expanding and enhancing its technical structure with the formation of a Technical Advisory Council (TAC) that will oversee five committees governing the technical aspects of the organization. This initiative creates a Center of Technical Excellence within PHTA, solidifying the association as the leader in standards development and education for the industry. Members interested in serving on a technical committee are encouraged to apply at phta.org/standards.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) has awarded the 2022 Dr. R. Neil Lowry Grant to Fishers Health Department in Fishers, Indiana. The winner was announced during the World Aquatic Health Conference (WAHC) Awards Ceremony on October 12, 2022 in Houston, Texas.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance has announced the launch of its first cohort of the PHTA Leadership Certificate Program Powered by Cornell University. This program is exclusively for PHTA members and has two tracks, one for executive leaders and a second for emerging leaders.

PHTA’s International Awards of Excellence program is one of the largest, most well-renowned design competitions in the pool and hot tub industry. These distinguished awards recognize exceptional installations of pools, spas, hot tubs, and water features that showcase the most beautiful, creative, and innovative work in the industry. Each year, hundreds of entries are submitted by builders across the U.S. and the world.

The PHTA SWT/H2B Coalition met with seven Senate and Congressional offices over two days discussing the importance of the summer work travel program on the seasonal swimming pool industry. PHTA hosted the group and facilitated opportunities for Coalition members to share their stories.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance is thrilled to announce that Rudy Stankowitz will be delivering the keynote presentation at this year’s World Aquatic Health Conference (WAHC), taking place October 12-14 in Houston, TX. Stankowitz is known throughout the pool industry as a go-to source of information on pool operations, swim safety, and water quality.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance will be providing four sessions for the new Pool & Spa Education Track at the 2022 Equip Exposition, October 18–21 in Louisville, KY. Equip Exposition, previously known as GIE+EXPO, is one of the largest trade shows for the landscaping industry. Attendees are able to test new products, discover the latest industry trends, and take education and certification courses across a wide range of topics.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance is pleased to announce the six recipients of the 2022 PHTA Fellowship and PHTA Scholarship Programs: Graham Lamb, Emily Broom, Colton Morris, Jason Marsh, and Meghan Partrick.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of the new Greg Garrett Scholarship Award. Developed by the PHTA Recreational Water Quality Committee, this $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to one PHTA member in the builder or service sector each year to use for PHTA educational or certification fees. The application deadline for the 2022 scholarship is Friday, September 16.
